Set EUDR relevance for an article
Overview
The EUDR tab on an article is where you decide whether that article is subject to the EUDR. It is one of the most important settings in the module, because it controls what enters the due diligence workflow. Only EUDR-relevant articles flow into purchase orders, risk assessments, and Due Diligence Statements.
Before you start
- The article must exist and have a CN code (see Add an article).
- Know what the product is actually made of. Relevance depends on the material, not the code alone.
🟢 Why this matters. EUDR relevance depends on whether the article is actually made of, contains, or is derived from an EUDR-regulated commodity, not on the CN code alone. The CN code decides whether the article can be in scope; this setting decides whether it is.
How relevance works
There are two layers, and understanding them prevents most mistakes.
- The CN code is the prerequisite. An article can only be EUDR-relevant if its CN code falls under EUDR (that is, appears in Annex I). The relevance setting can only confirm or exclude relevance within that scope. It cannot bring a CN code that is not in Annex I into scope.
- The setting confirms or excludes. Articles whose CN code falls under EUDR are EUDR-relevant by default. You set the article to No only when it is not actually made of, contains, or derived from a regulated commodity.
When to exclude an in-scope article
Set an in-scope article to No in cases such as:
- A composite product where the regulated commodity is not the main component.
- A product made entirely from recycled material.
If in doubt, leave it EUDR-relevant. It is safer to assess an article than to wrongly exclude it.
Step by step
- Open the article and select the EUDR tab.
- Read the assessment. kolum states whether the CN code falls under EUDR and shows the Current status.
- Use Is this article EUDR-relevant? to set Yes or No.
- Save. The status and the EUDR tag on the article update accordingly.
Status meanings

| Not EUDR-relevant | The article is excluded. No EUDR tag is shown and it does not enter the EUDR workflow. This is either because the CN code is not in Annex I, or because you excluded it deliberately. |
ℹ️ EUDR scope is set by the commodities and CN codes in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650. Always use the consolidated version for the full, current list, since the amendment changes both scope and timing and the original 2023 text is out of date.
Tips
- Review relevance whenever you change an article's CN code, since the code is the gate.
- Keep a short internal note of why an in-scope article was excluded, so the decision can be explained if it is ever questioned.
Troubleshooting
- The Yes option is not available. The CN code is not in Annex I, so the article cannot be made EUDR-relevant. Correct the CN code if it is wrong.
- The article shows no EUDR tag. Either the CN code is not in Annex I, or the article is set to Not EUDR-relevant.
