Introduction to EUDR

Overview

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) changes what you need to know about the products you place on, or export from, the EU market. This section explains what the regulation is, which products it covers, who is responsible, and how the whole compliance process fits together in kolum. Read it before you set up data or run assessments, because every later page builds on the ideas introduced here.

In this section

  • What EUDR is and why it exists. The purpose of the regulation and the core idea of a deforestation-free supply chain.
  • Commodities and products in scope. The seven commodities, their derived products, and how scope is decided.
  • Who must comply. Operators, traders, and what each one is responsible for.
  • The compliance flow, end to end. The full journey in kolum, from master data to a submitted Due Diligence Statement.

ℹ️ EUDR is Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650. Because the amendment changes both the scope and the application timing, always rely on the consolidated version for the current, authoritative text: consolidated EUDR text, current as of 26 December 2025.

Wherever a field or step in kolum exists because the regulation requires it, this documentation says so and links the relevant part of the law. The goal is to help you operate confidently. It is not legal advice.
