Risk Assessment
Overview
Risk assessment is the heart of EUDR compliance in kolum. For every EUDR-relevant Supplier × Article pair created by your purchase orders, you assess the risk that the product is not compliant and reduce it until a Due Diligence Statement can be submitted for the buyer.
🟢 Why this matters. The EUDR only lets you place a relevant product on the market once due diligence shows the risk of non-compliance is negligible. The assessment here is that due diligence: it combines the supplier's data with defined risk criteria, and it is what a Due Diligence Statement certifies. See the consolidated EUDR text.
The Supplier x Article pair
Each row in Risk Assessment is one supplier and one article, created when you add an EUDR-relevant article to a purchase order. One pair can be triggered by several orders, and it is assessed once for all of them.
The three steps
Every pair moves through three steps:
- Collect due diligence data from the supplier, including the plot geolocation.
- Conduct the assessment analysis across the risk criteria, applying mitigation where needed.
- Submit the Due Diligence Statement to TRACES once the risk is negligible or low.
The lifecycle and filters
The list groups pairs by where they are in that lifecycle:
| Filter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Awaiting DD Info from Supplier | Data has been requested but not yet received. |
| In Assessment | Data received; risk being assessed and mitigated. |
| DDS Open to Submit | Risk is low; ready to submit. |
| DDS Submitted | A Due Diligence Statement has been filed. |
| All | Every pair. |
The list
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Company | The buyer the assessment is for. |
| Supplier | The supplier supplying the article. |
| Article | The article, with the triggering purchase order(s). |
| Country of Production | The declared country of production. |
| Risk Assessment | The current risk (Awaiting DD info, Low, Low mitigated, Medium, and so on). |
| DDS | The linked statement, or Blocked while risk is too high. |
| Max Volume | The volume the assessment covers. |
| Actions | Adapts to status: Request Due Diligence Information, Mitigate Risk, Submit DDS, View DDS, and Open. |
Tip: select several pairs awaiting assessment to send bulk data requests.
Operators and traders
This assessment is the operator's workflow. A trader that only passes goods along does not assess risk here; instead it collects and forwards existing Due Diligence Statement references. That trader flow is documented separately.
