Manage Articles
Overview
An article in kolum is a product you buy, produce, import, or trade. Articles are shared master data, used across every customs module. The Affected by column on the Articles list shows which regulations each article touches: CBAM, EUDR, both, or none.
For EUDR, the article is where scope is decided. An article's CN code determines whether it can fall under the EUDR at all, and its EUDR relevance setting confirms or excludes it within that scope. Only EUDR-relevant articles flow into purchase orders, risk assessments, and Due Diligence Statements.
The article is also where you record the net weight per piece. Suppliers and purchase orders count many products in pieces, while a Due Diligence Statement needs the net mass in kilograms. A net weight per piece on the article is what lets kolum convert one into the other.
🟢 Why this matters. The EUDR applies only to the commodities and products listed in Annex I of the regulation, identified by CN code. Classifying your articles correctly is the step that decides what the regulation covers in your supply chain, and what it does not. See the consolidated EUDR text.
How an article record is organised

When the EUDR module is selected, an article opens on its EUDR tab; switch to another tab whenever you need it, and an explicit choice of General is kept.

Working with the list
Use Filters and View to narrow and arrange the list, and Export to download the current articles. The export carries the same columns as the upload template, including the net weight per piece and its unit, so you can edit it and upload it again.
Before you start
- You need a role with permission to manage master data.
- Know each article's CN code. If you are unsure, the CN Code Classifier can help (documented separately).
- For articles you buy in pieces, know the net weight of one piece excluding packaging, so purchase order quantities can be converted to kilograms.
