Bulk Upload Companies
Overview
When you need to create several companies at once, use the bulk upload instead of the Create Company form. You fill a spreadsheet template, upload it, and kolum creates one company per row.
Before you start
- A role with permission to manage master data.
- The company details for every entity you want to create: name, address, and (for EU entities) EORI number.
- Optionally, the size-classification figures (net sales, employees, total assets), which you can include in the same file.
Step by step
- Go to Master Data > Companies and select Upload file.
- Download the template.
- Fill in one company per row, following the column rules below.
- Upload the completed file and review the preview kolum shows.
- Confirm to import. The new companies appear in the Companies list.
Template columns
The template columns are:
| Column | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Identifier | Optional | Your own identifier for the company. Generated if left blank. |
| EORI Number | EU entities | ISO 2-letter country code plus up to 15 characters. |
| Business Partner Number | Catena-X only | The Catena-X BPNL, if the company exchanges data over Catena-X. |
| Name | Yes | Legal name. |
| Postal Code | Yes | |
| City | Yes | |
| Country | Yes | ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code. |
| Street Name / Street Number / Post Office Box | No | Street address. |
| Net Sales | Optional | Range value; feeds the EUDR size classification. |
| Number of Employees | Optional | Range value; feeds the EUDR size classification. |
| Total Asset Value | Optional | Range value; feeds the EUDR size classification. |
Net Sales, Number of Employees, and Total Asset Value must use the fixed ranges listed in the template.
ℹ️ The upload can include the EUDR size classification figures, but not the TRACES credentials, which are set per company on the EUDR tab afterwards. See Set up EUDR for a company.
Tips
- Fill the size-classification columns during the upload to save configuring each company by hand later.
- Keep country and postal codes consistent; kolum validates the country against the allowed list.
Troubleshooting
- A row failed to import. The usual cause is a missing required field (Name, Postal Code, City, or Country).
- A size range was rejected. Use one of the exact ranges provided in the template rather than a free-typed figure.
ℹ️ Regulatory context. The size-classification figures you upload set each company's EUDR size class, which determines its compliance deadlines and whether simplified due diligence applies. See the consolidated EUDR text.
