Received DDS and upstream operator documents
Overview
Not every statement is one you produce. When you buy from an upstream operator who has already carried out due diligence and filed a statement, they pass you its reference. You record that received statement here, rather than assessing the product again. Received statements appear under the Received DDS filter.
🟢 Why this matters. The EUDR is built around Due Diligence Statement references being passed down the supply chain. Recording an upstream operator's statement lets you rely on the due diligence already done, instead of repeating it. See the consolidated EUDR text.
Before you start
- You have the upstream operator's Due Diligence Statement reference and any supporting documents.
Record a received statement
- Go to Due Diligence Statements and select Upload Upstream Operator Docs.
- Provide the received statement reference and attach the documents.
- Save. The statement appears under the Received DDS filter.
How this differs from your own statements
A received statement is one you rely on, not one you produced from your own assessment. Your own statements are created from the risk assessment workflow and filed to TRACES; received statements are recorded from documents an upstream operator gives you.
ℹ️ This handling of received references is closely related to the trader workflow, in which a party collects and forwards existing statements rather than assessing risk. The full trader flow is documented separately.
Tips
- Keep the upstream reference and its documents together, so the chain of due diligence is easy to demonstrate.
Troubleshooting
- A received statement is not showing. Check that it was saved through Upload Upstream Operator Docs, then look under the Received DDS filter.
ℹ️ Regulatory context. Passing and relying on Due Diligence Statement references down the chain is a core mechanism of the regulation. See the consolidated EUDR text.
