Glossary for Bulk Upload of Articles

This glossary explains every column in the article upload template so you can fill it in accurately and avoid validation errors. Enter one article per row. The same template layout is produced by the Export action on the Articles page, so an exported file can be edited and re-uploaded directly.

Column-by-Column Details

Reference Number (Mandatory): A unique reference number identifying the article and the key for the upload: rows with a Reference Number that already exists in your account update that article; rows with a new one create an article. kolum uses it to link imports and emission data to this article. Format: free text, unique within your account. Example: ART-STL-7208-001.

Name (Mandatory): The name of the article or product. A human-readable label that does not need to be unique. Format: free text. Example: Hot-rolled steel plate 10mm.

CN Code (Mandatory): The Combined Nomenclature code classifying the article under the EU customs tariff. It determines whether the article falls within CBAM scope. Format: 8-digit CN code. Example: 72083600.

Description (Optional): Additional free-text detail about the product; use it for grade, dimensions, or any extra context. Format: free text. Example: Plate, S235JR, 10mm, 1500x6000mm.

Net Weight Per Piece (Conditional): The full net weight of one unit of the article, excluding packaging. Together with the Measurement Unit it lets kolum convert quantities counted in pieces into net mass, which EUDR Due Diligence Statements require. Fill it in together with the Measurement Unit, or leave both empty. Format: positive decimal; zero, negative and non-numeric values are rejected. Example: 12.5.

Measurement Unit (Conditional): The unit of the Net Weight Per Piece. Required whenever a net weight is given, and must be empty when it is not. Format: kg or t; any other value is rejected with the allowed values named. Example: kg.

Precursor CN Code (CBAM-relevant) (Optional): Flags the article's precursor as CBAM-relevant. Setting it can bring an article whose own CN Code is outside CBAM scope into scope; for in-scope articles it is captured for documentation. Example: Yes.

Is EUDR-Relevant (Optional): Whether the article is relevant under EUDR. Yes is only valid when the CN Code is in EUDR scope; a Yes on an out-of-scope CN Code makes the row invalid. Example: Yes.

Validation & Tips

  • Reference Number, Name, and CN Code are always mandatory.
  • Reference Number must be unique across your articles; it is the key that decides whether a row creates a new article or updates an existing one.
  • CN Code must be a valid 8-digit code.
  • Net Weight Per Piece and Measurement Unit are a pair: fill both or neither. A row with only one of them is rejected as an incomplete pair.
  • Is EUDR-Relevant may only be Yes when the CN Code is in EUDR scope.
  • Any invalid row rejects the whole file; download the error report, correct the rows, and re-upload.
  • Articles without a net weight export with both cells empty, never as 0, so an exported file re-imports without changing a single value.

Where to Access the Template

  1. Go to Articles in your kolum workspace.
  2. Click Upload File.
  3. Download the template so you use the correct structure. The Explanation tab marks Net Weight Per Piece and Measurement Unit as Conditional and lists the allowed units.
  4. Fill in your article data using this glossary as your guide.
  5. Re-upload the file in the upload modal for validation.

What's new

The article template has two new columns, Net Weight Per Piece and Measurement Unit (kg or t), so you can record the weight of one piece for each article and let kolum convert piece counts into net mass for EUDR. Fill both columns or leave both empty.
