User Roles

kolum provides different user roles to ensure proper access control and separation of duties across your organization. Each role is designed with specific responsibilities and access levels to support your compliance workflow. Understanding these roles will help you effectively organize your team for efficient compliance management.

Roles are set per user and apply to your whole kolum account: a person has one role, and that role gives the same permissions in CBAM, EUDR and PPWR. The six roles below are the ones offered in the role picker when you invite or edit a user, and they are shown, together with your client or company, in the sidebar footer once you are signed in.

Client Admin

Client Admins have full access to manage the entire organization within the kolum platform, including all companies, users, and compliance data across every module.

Key Permissions:

  • Create and manage companies and their production facilities within the account
  • Invite users and assign all role types
  • Access all compliance data and reports in every module
  • Configure system settings and integrations

Client Auditor

Client Auditors have view-only access across your whole organization within kolum. This role is typically used when you provide access to an internal or external auditor, allowing them to review your emissions data and linked company, supplier and facility records without making any changes. Auditor roles do not see the Users section.

Company Admin

Company Admins are the standard users who work with compliance data on a day-to-day basis for the companies assigned to them, managing articles, imports, and emissions.

Key Permissions:

  • Manage company facilities and installation data of the assigned companies
  • Create and manage articles and product definitions
  • Record import data and emissions information
  • Generate compliance reports
  • View and analyze carbon costs

Company Admins cannot invite new users or create new companies.

Company Auditor

Company Auditors have view-only access limited to the companies assigned to them. This role is useful when an auditor needs to review emissions data and linked records for a single company without being able to edit, add, or delete anything, and without seeing the rest of the organization. Auditor roles do not see the Users section.

Customs Officer

Customs Officers focus specifically on import records and reporting requirements for customs declarations.

Key Permissions:

  • Record and manage import declarations
  • Generate customs-related CBAM reports

Procurement Officer

Procurement Officers manage supplier relationships and emissions data related to purchased goods.

Key Permissions:

  • Manage supplier information and relationships, and invite suppliers
  • Request and track emissions data from suppliers
  • Analyze carbon costs related to procurement

Ideal for teams focused on supply chain sustainability.
