Edit Existing Articles

Editing articles in kolum helps you keep your product data accurate and aligned with your operations. As your sourcing, classification, or production details evolve, you may need to update articles to reflect changes in naming, classification, or regulatory relevance. Keeping articles up to date ensures that your imports, supplier emissions data, and internal production tracking remain correct and consistent across your workflows. This helps prevent reporting issues, supports supplier collaboration, and keeps your organisation's data structured and clear in kolum.

How to Edit an Article

  1. Go to Articles from the sidebar.
  2. Find the article you wish to edit in the list.
  3. Click on the article name to open its details page.
  4. The page is organised into four sections: General, Associations, CBAM, and EUDR. It opens on the section that matches the regulation module you have selected when that section is available to your account, otherwise on General; if you switch to General yourself, that choice is kept. Each section is composed of editable blocks: click Edit on a block to change its fields, then Save or Cancel in the block header. Only one block is in edit mode at a time, and mandatory fields are marked with *.
  5. To rename the article, hover next to the Name in the page header and click the pencil icon; edit the name inline and Save or Cancel. The Reference Number is shown beneath the name.

What You Can Update

  • General: Reference Number, CN Code, and Description. The Reference Number must remain unique within your account; entering one that already exists is rejected with a clear error.
  • General, Units & weight: The Net weight per piece with its Measurement Unit (kg or t), the full net weight of one unit excluding packaging. Enter both halves together or clear both to leave the weight unset; a half-filled pair cannot be saved. Switching the unit converts the value (25 kg becomes 0.025 t). Clearing the pair removes the weight rather than storing 0.
  • CBAM: The "Precursor CN Code is CBAM-relevant" flag in the Inward Processing block, and the article's production details.
  • EUDR: The Yes/No EUDR relevance control (editable only when the CN Code is in EUDR scope; otherwise it is disabled with explanatory copy).

Important to Note

  • Connected Companies and Connected Suppliers in the Associations section are read-only; they are derived automatically from your transactional data and cannot be added or removed here.
  • There is no Purchased/Produced type field any more.
  • CN Code is mandatory and must remain filled for the article to save.
  • Suppliers connected to the article will see any changes in their kolum interface and can provide or adjust emissions data if needed.
  • Historical emissions data tied to articles will remain unchanged, while new data will align with updated details.

After Editing

  • The article will remain visible in your Articles list with the updated details.
  • Connected suppliers will see any changes to the article in their interface.
  • The updated article will be used for imports, emissions tracking, and supplier collaboration within your kolum workflows.

What's new

You can now maintain an article's net weight per piece with its unit (kg or t) in the General section, and the article detail page opens on the section that matches the regulation module you are working in.
