Procurement Officer

Overview

The Procurement Officer works with suppliers and the information they provide. In the PPWR context, this role is the bridge to the packaging data that only your suppliers hold: material composition, recycled content, substance information, and supporting documents.

What a Procurement Officer can do

  • Manage supplier records and contacts.
  • Request packaging and substance information from suppliers and track responses.
  • Upload and maintain supplier documents.
  • View the packaging items the requested information relates to.

What a Procurement Officer cannot do

  • Manage workspace users and roles.
  • Change company master data outside their remit.

Who this role suits

Purchasing and supply chain staff who already own the supplier relationship and are best placed to obtain missing data.

Tips

  • Bundle requests per supplier rather than per item; suppliers respond faster to one clear list.
  • Chase missing substance and recycled-content information early, because it blocks the Declaration of Conformity at the end of the flow.

ℹ️ Regulatory context. Conformity depends on facts about materials and substances that usually originate upstream (Articles 4 and 5). The Procurement Officer role puts that collection work where the supplier relationship already sits. See Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
