Read, Save & Share Your Comparison
Once your parameters, scope, and filters are set, the results table gives you a country-by-country comparison of CBAM cost for the good you selected. This page explains how to read it, how to save a scenario for later or for colleagues, and how to export it to Excel.
Reading the Results Table
The table is sorted by Total CBAM Cost, so the best-cost option is always at the top, with every other country below in ascending cost order. You can click a column header to re-sort by that column. The header strip above the table restates the active scenario - calculation year, number of countries, CBAM Factor, Default Markup, and certificate price - so you always know which assumptions the numbers reflect. Each row shows:
- Company and Supplier - shown for actual-data rows; a dash for generic default rows.
- Country of Origin - the sourcing country for the row.
- Production Facility and Production Method - shown where the data is article- and supplier-specific.
- Emission Data Type - Default (EU default values for that CN Code and country, with the year noted) or Actual (real values from a supplier for a specific time frame, such as 2026 Q1).
- SEE Direct (tCO₂e/t) and SEE Indirect (tCO₂e/t) - the direct and indirect specific embedded emissions per tonne.
- SEFA (tCO₂e/t) - the embedded free allocation, the share of emissions you do not pay CBAM costs for.
- CBAM-Liable Emissions (tCO₂e/t) - the emissions you actually pay for, per tonne. This is the figure the cost is built on; the lowest value drives the best-cost row.
- Total CBAM Cost (€) - the resulting cost for the volume set in your parameters. The lowest value is highlighted at the top. Remember that default rows appear for every country (using a fallback value where the EU has no direct entry), while actual rows appear only where a supplier has submitted data. Actual data usually beats the default, but not always - so compare them rather than assume. Turning the table into a decision
- Look at the top row for the cheapest sourcing option under your current assumptions.
- Scan CBAM-Liable Emissions to understand why one country beats another - it's driven by the emission breakdown, not the purchase price.
- Compare any Actual rows against the country Default to see whether a specific supplier improves on the baseline.
- Adjust your parameters (year, volume, certificate price) to see how robust the ranking is to your assumptions.
Saving and Sharing a Setup
A setup is a saved sourcing scenario - your parameters, analysis scope, and selected CN Code or article - captured so you or a colleague can reload it with one click. Use Save as new setup… to store the current configuration under a clear name (for example, Aluminium 2028). If you've loaded an existing setup and changed something, use Overwrite "<name>" to update it in place; the label shows unsaved until you save. Click Browse to open the Saved Setups panel, where favourites are pinned at the top for quick access. Each setup card shows its key details - scope (such as CN only or an article reference like SNR-100021), who last updated it and when, the calculation year, the CN Code, the volume, and the certificate price. From a card you can: Apply → to load the setup and see its results immediately. ★ (star) to mark it as a favourite. Download to export the setup's comparison to Excel. 🗑 (delete) to remove it. Because saved setups are visible to your team, they're the simplest way to share a scenario: save your configuration, give it a recognisable name, and a colleague can open Browse and Apply it to see exactly the same comparison. Tip: Use favourites for scenarios you check regularly (such as a recurring "Check-In"), and give one-off scenarios descriptive names so they're easy to find later.
Exporting to Excel
To work offline, share outside the platform, or attach a comparison to a sourcing decision, click Download as Excel. This exports the comparison currently shown - including your active parameters, scope, and filters. You can also click the download icon on a setup card in the Browse panel to export that saved scenario directly. The file mirrors the table: the country rows in best-cost order, the full emission breakdown (SEE Direct, SEE Indirect, SEFA, CBAM-Liable Emissions), the Total CBAM Cost per row, and the scenario assumptions (calculation year, certificate price, CBAM factor, markup). Tip: Apply your filters and set your real volume before exporting, so the file matches the decision you're actually making. If you want the full picture, clear filters first so every country is included.
Tips for Effective Sourcing Analysis
- Model your real scenario: set the actual calculation year and import volume rather than leaving the defaults.
- Don't assume actual beats default: always compare the Actual row against the country Default before committing.
- Stress-test the certificate price: entering a higher custom value shows how sensitive your ranking is to a rising carbon price.
- Save and name scenarios clearly: favourites for comparisons you check often, descriptive names for one-offs so they're easy to find and share.
