Configure Your Sourcing Analysis
The top of the Sourcing page is your calculation playground. The parameters define what scenario you're calculating, the analysis scope defines what good you're looking at, and the filters narrow the comparison to the rows you care about. Change any of them and the results table recalculates instantly.
Setting Your Parameters
The Parameters area sits at the top of the page. Adjust these to model the exact scenario you want. Calculation Year: the year you're calculating for (for example, 2026 or 2028). Changing it automatically adjusts the CBAM Factor and Default Markup to the values that apply in that year, and all costs in the table update. This is how you model a future scenario. CBAM Factor: the phase-in percentage for the selected year (for example, 2.5%). It's set automatically by the calculation year. It increases over time, which lowers the free allocation (SEFA) and so raises a good's CBAM-liable emissions. That is why a later year produces a higher cost for the same good. Default Markup: a conservative uplift applied to default emission values (for example, +10%). Like the CBAM Factor, it's tied to the calculation year and adjusts automatically. Certificate: the price of a CBAM certificate, in € per tonne of CO₂e (for example, €75.37 /tCO₂e). The default is based on the EU's quarterly average certificate price, so it changes each quarter. You can override it with your own value, which is then flagged as custom - useful for stress-testing against a higher or lower carbon price. Volume: the quantity of the good, in tonnes. The default of 100 t works as a neutral reference. If you know your real import quantity - say 1,000 tonnes - type it in and the Total CBAM Cost column reflects the cost for that full volume. Together these turn the per-tonne emission figures into a euro cost. The CBAM-Liable Emissions per tonne are (SEE Direct + SEE Indirect) − SEFA, where the free allocation SEFA = (100% − CBAM Factor) × Benchmark, so the CBAM Factor is applied inside SEFA rather than as a separate multiplier. The Total CBAM Cost is then CBAM-Liable Emissions × Volume × Certificate price.
Choosing Your Analysis Scope
Every analysis is tied to a CN Code. The Analysis Scope toggle, just above the selection field, decides whether you look at that CN Code generically or narrow it to one article. CN Code only runs a generic comparison across an entire CN Code, with no specific article attached. After selecting it, use the CN Code field to search by code or name - for example, Other kaolinic clays (25070080). All CN Codes used across your Imports and Articles are available. Use this when you're exploring a product category or want the broadest country comparison. Specific Article narrows the analysis to one of your articles. After selecting it, use the Article field to pick the article; it carries its own article reference number (such as SNR-100021) and the CN Code linked to it. Because you're looking at a real article, this scope is where actual supplier emission data can appear alongside the country defaults. Use this when you want the most accurate picture for a good you actually buy. You can switch scope at any time and re-run the comparison.

Narrowing With Filters
Once a selection returns a long list, open the Filters bar to focus. Each filter shows a count of the distinct values available for the current selection.
- Company - limit to specific companies.
- Supplier - limit to specific suppliers.
- Country of Origin - limit to a shortlist of origin countries.
- Production Facility - limit to specific facilities where available.
- Production Method - limit by how the good is produced.
- Emission Data Type - limit to Default or Actual data. To use a filter, click it, select one or more values, and the table updates immediately. Filters combine - for example, Country of Origin = a shortlist plus Emission Data Type = Actual shows only actual-data rows for those countries. To clear a filter, reopen it and deselect the values. Tip: Most rows in a fresh comparison are Default - every country has a default value. Actual rows appear only where a supplier has submitted real data for a specific article, company, facility, and time frame. Filtering by Emission Data Type = Actual is the fastest way to find them.
