Submit CBAM Reports

Once your CBAM report is generated in kolum, the final step is to submit it to the EU Commission via the CBAM Registry. This ensures your compliance with the CBAM Regulation and completes your reporting for the period. Below is a clear, step-by-step guide to help you submit your CBAM report seamlessly.

Which periods you submit depends on the year: the transitional period is reported quarterly, from 2023 Q4 through 2025 Q4, and those quarterly reports can still be created and corrected in kolum. From 2026 onwards, one annual CBAM declaration covers the full calendar year; the declaration for 2026 is due by 30 September 2027 (corrections until 31 October 2027), and kolum enables its creation from January 2027.

1. Log in to the CBAM Registry

Go to the CBAM Registry and log in with your credentials. After logging in, navigate to your reports overview. You will see a table listing each reporting period with the current report status.

2. Upload the .zip File

Identify the period for which you wish to submit your report and click the Upload button on the right side of the row. This will open a modal allowing you to upload your CBAM report file.

3. Select and Upload the File

Click Choose File in the modal, then select the .zip file you exported from kolum. Confirm your selection by clicking OK. You should see a green success message confirming the file upload.

4. Validate the Uploaded Report

Click on the blue report ID link (e.g., 39INUH3D...) next to the "Draft" status to open the report details page.

Here, click the Validate button at the top right of the page. The system will check your uploaded report for format and content consistency. You will receive a green confirmation once validation succeeds.

5. Submit the CBAM Report

Once validation is complete, simply click the Submit button at the top right of the report page to finalize your submission to the EU Commission. Your CBAM reporting obligation for the period is now fulfilled, and you will see your report status updated in the registry.

Tips for a Smooth Submission

  • Ensure the exported .zip file from kolum is the final, correct version for the period you are submitting.
  • If validation fails, review the feedback in the registry, correct any issues in kolum if needed, and re-upload.
  • Keep a record of your submission confirmation for your compliance documentation.

What's new

From 2026, CBAM reporting moves from quarterly reports to one annual declaration per calendar year. Quarterly reports up to 2025 Q4 are still created and submitted as before; the 2026 declaration can be created in kolum from January 2027, ahead of the 30 September 2027 deadline.
