Understanding data request types
Overview
Every request your buyers send falls into one of two types, and asks for a specific set of items. Knowing the difference helps you answer the right way.
🟢 Why this matters. A first request and a follow-up are answered slightly differently. Recognising which is which saves you time and avoids sending the wrong data.
The two request types
| Type | What it means | How you answer |
|---|---|---|
| General DD Information | A buyer's first, full request for the data they need to begin their due diligence for an article and order. | Complete the full four-step wizard (see Answer a data request). |
| Follow-Up Data Request | A later request for additional or updated data, usually after the buyer reviewed your first response. | Provide the specific extra items asked for (see Respond to a follow-up request). |
Requested items
Each request lists exactly what it needs, shown as a count of documents and production locations (for example 2 docs, 1 location). A follow-up often asks for just one more document. Provide every listed item so the buyer is not blocked.
Statuses

How requests reach you
Requests are created by your EU buyers when they need data for an order. You do not create them; you answer them. They appear in your Data Requests list.
