Answer a data request

Overview

When you select Provide Data on a request, kolum opens a four-step wizard that walks you through everything the buyer needs. This page covers those four steps.

🟢 Why this matters. Each step maps to something the EUDR requires your buyer to have: what the product is, where it was produced, who supplied it, and evidence that it is deforestation-free. Complete all four and submit. See the consolidated EUDR text.

Before you start

  • The request is Open in Data Requests.
  • Your production locations and documents are ready, so you can reuse them here (see Production Locations and Documents).

The four steps

Step 1 — Product Information. Describe the product: product description, trade name, and product type. For timber, also give the common and scientific species name.

Step 2 — Production Details. Add the production locations the goods came from, either from your saved locations (Browse locations) or by defining a new production area. Enter the production data (quantity and unit). Step 3 — Supply Chain Information. Confirm your supplier information (name and address). This is pre-filled from your account, so usually you just check it. Step 4 — Compliance & Verification. Upload the Deforestation-Free Evidence: conclusive, verifiable documentation that the products are deforestation-free, such as certificates, audit reports, or satellite-imagery analysis. Then select Submit EUDR Data.

After you submit

The request moves to Submitted, and your buyer receives the data for their risk assessment. If they need anything more, they send a Follow-Up Data Request.

Tips

  • Reuse saved production locations and documents rather than re-entering them each time.
  • Upload current, conclusive evidence; weak or expired evidence usually leads to a follow-up request.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot submit. Complete the required fields across all four steps, and attach the deforestation-free evidence in Step 4.

ℹ️ Regulatory context. The four steps gather the information (Article 9) and evidence your buyer needs to assess and mitigate risk (Article 10). See the consolidated EUDR text.
