Platform Overview
Welcome to kolum. This platform helps you, as a non-EU manufacturer or trader, efficiently manage your emissions data for CBAM reporting, while keeping control over your data and your relationships with EU buyers. Below is an overview of the key areas you will use in kolum to manage your organization, production data, buyers, and suppliers, ensuring your emissions data is always clear, connected, and ready for sharing with your EU customers.
The footer of the sidebar always shows who you are signed in as, with your role and your company, and offers a Product Updates link that opens the latest product news from the documentation in your app language.
My Organization
Companies
This is where you manage your company information:
- Add or edit your company name and address.
- This ensures your EU customers have the correct legal and location information linked to your emissions data.
Tip: Keep your company details up-to-date to avoid delays when buyers review your submitted data.
Production Facilities
Your production sites belong to your companies and are managed from each company's detail page, on its Associations tab:
- Add each production facility (e.g., your steel plant or processing site) with Add New on the company's Associations tab, or upload several at once with Upload Company Production Facilities on the Companies page.
- A facility can inherit its company's address or carry its own location.
- You will later use these facilities to calculate emissions accurately at the facility level, matching your actual operations.
Why this matters: Emissions reporting is often required per facility. Setting these up correctly ensures your emissions data is precise and traceable.
Users
Invite and manage users within your company:
- Add colleagues who need to manage data, submit emissions, or handle buyer requests.
- Assign appropriate roles based on responsibilities.
Note: Inviting the right team members early will help you distribute the workload and maintain clear oversight.
Supply Chain Management
Buyers
This section lists your EU customers who are requesting emissions data from you:
- View all buyers linked to your organization.
- For each buyer, see the articles/products they purchase from you.
- Provide emissions data directly for these articles, ensuring your data goes to the correct buyer automatically.
Benefit: You control what data you provide, and buyers cannot see any of your supplier details.
Suppliers
If you are a trader or manufacturer with upstream suppliers, you can:
- Add and manage your suppliers in kolum and invite them; the kolum Account Status shows whether each supplier has accepted the invitation.
- Request emissions data from your suppliers directly through the platform.
- Keep track of which suppliers have provided emissions data and which are pending.
Key point: Your suppliers' identities are not visible to your EU buyers, protecting your supply chain while ensuring you can deliver complete emissions data.
Providing Emissions Data
kolum offers you flexible ways to provide emissions data:
- Direct Entry: Manually enter your emissions data linked to your buyers' purchased articles.
- Calculation: Use kolum's emissions calculator to generate precise emissions based on your facility and production data.
Using kolum to calculate or directly enter data ensures consistency, transparency, and faster acceptance by your EU buyers.
