4. Manage operators/installations

Operators

Operators are the companies that operate the production facilities where CBAM-relevant goods are produced. You must capture relevant data points about your operators in your CBAM report. In the kolum software, you can manage all your CBAM-relevant operators and use them continuously.

Add Operators

There are two ways to add your operators to the kolum software.

Manually Add Operators

To manually add an operator, navigate to the Operators page in the navigation bar and click the “Add Operator” button.

kolum Add Operator 1

In the window that opens, you can enter all the details of the operator:

  • Name: Enter the (legal) name of the operator here.
  • ID: You can assign an ID number here. There is no specific format required, but it may be useful to use a supplier number from your ERP system or similar. Alternatively, you can leave the field blank — in which case, we will automatically generate an ID.
  • Address: Enter the address details of the operator here. Only the city and country are mandatory data points; the others are optional.
  • Contact Person: You should enter the contact person on-site here. Important: The emission data will be requested from this contact person in a later step. Make sure to name a contact person who is capable of providing the emission data.

Add Operators via Excel Upload

Alternatively, you can upload all your operators collectively via an Excel file. This is especially useful if you have a large number of operators. Click the “Upload File” button. In the window that opens, you can download an Excel template at the top.

kolum Add Operator 3

You can now fill in this Excel template with the details of your operators line by line and then upload them collectively.

kolum Add Operator 4

To upload the completed template, click “Upload File” again under “Operators,” and then use the button there to select the Excel file from your local file system and click “Save.”

kolum Add Operator 5

A preview of the data will then be displayed, where you can check the general format of the upload. If everything looks good and no error messages appear, you can add your operators to the kolum software by clicking the “Add Operator” button.

kolum Add Operator 6

Edit Operators

To edit operators, click the “pencil icon” in the respective table entry. In the window that opens, you can edit the details of the operator.

Installations

Installations are the physical locations where CBAM-relevant goods are produced. You must capture relevant data points about your installations in your CBAM report. In the kolum software, you can manage all your CBAM-relevant installations and use them continuously.

Add Installations

There are two ways to add your Installation to the kolum software.

Manually Add Installations

To manually add an installation, navigate to the Installations page in the navigation bar and click the “Add Installation” button.

kolum Add Installation 1

In the window that opens, you can enter all the details of the installation:

  • Name: Enter the (legal) name of the installation here.
  • ID: You can assign an ID number here. There is no specific format required, but it may be useful to use a supplier number from your ERP system or similar. Alternatively, you can leave the field blank — in which case, we will automatically generate an ID.
  • Address: By default, we assume that the address of the installation is identical to that of the operator. If this is not the case (e.g., if the operator operates multiple installations), you can uncheck the checkbox and enter an alternative address.

Add Installations via Excel Upload

Alternatively, you can upload all your installations collectively via an Excel file. This is especially useful if you have a large number of installations. Click the “Upload File” button. In the window that opens, you can download an Excel template at the top.

You can now fill in this Excel template with the details of your installations line by line and then upload them collectively.

kolum Add Installation 3

To upload the completed template, click “Upload File” again under “Installations,” and then use the button there to select the Excel file from your local file system and click “Save.”

A preview of the data will then be displayed, where you can check the general format of the upload. If everything looks good and no error messages appear, you can add your installations to the kolum software by clicking the “Add Installation” button.

Edit Installations

To edit installations, click the “pencil icon” in the respective table entry. In the window that opens, you can edit the details of the installation.
